Emma Martinez is a nationally recognized color guard educator, designer, adjudicator, and consultant with more than 35 years of experience in the marching arts. A veteran of both DCI and WGI, Emma's performance career included the Cadets, Bluecoats, Patriots, Emerald Marquis, and several prominent Canadian drum corps and winter guards.

As a member of The Cadets (1997-2000), Emma earned two DCI World Championships (1998, 2000), was named Cadet of the Year, received the Distinguished Service Award, and served as Color Guard Captain during her age-out season. Following her performing career, Emma joined The Cadets' instructional staff, where she served from 2001-2012, including roles as Caption Supervisor. During her tenure, the organization captured multiple DCI medals, two World Championships, and the prestigious George Zingali Award for Best Color Guard. Emma was also recognized as Staff Member of the Year and was featured in DCI Magazine's Leading Women in Drum Corps.

From 2001-2016, Emma helped build the nationally acclaimed Flanagan High School program, contributing to multiple WGI medal performances and two Scholastic World Class Championships. Throughout her career, she has designed, taught, consulted, and adjudicated for numerous championship-caliber programs across the country, including Boston Crusaders, Stoneman Douglas, Legacy Independent, Rouse High School, Vista Ridge, Liberty Hill, New Braunfels, and others.

In recognition of her contributions to the activity, Emma was inducted into the Cadets Hall of Fame in 2017 and currently serves on its Hall of Fame Committee.

Outside the marching arts, Emma is a healthcare leader in Infection Prevention, holding both a bachelor's and master's degree in nursing, along with Certification in Infection Control (CIC). Now based in the Austin, Texas area, Emma is excited to enter her second season on staff with ORIGINS.
