Kevin Monteiro’s journey in the performing arts began in Deerfield Beach, FL, where he discovered his passion for the marching arts as a French horn and clarinet player in his school band.
During his junior year, Kevin expanded his experience into drum corps, making his debut with the Boston Crusaders in 2014 as a mellophone player. His senior year he became part of the inaugural season of WGI Winds. Performing with NOVA Winds, where they were able to achieve WGI Winds’ first Scholastic A Gold Medal.
Kevin’s passion for performance eventually led him into the world of color guard, where he performed with several winter guard organizations, including Premonition, Braddock Independent, Cypress Independent, Black Gold World, Spirit Independent World, and Origins World. Alongside his color guard career, Kevin continued his journey in drum corps, performing with Carolina Crown in 2017, where the corps received the Jim Ott Brass Performance Award. He concluded his performing career with an age-out season with The Phantom Regiment in 2018.
Following his age-out, Kevin relocated to Texas and began his teaching career as the Assistant Guard Director at Klein Oak High School. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued his career in education and program development at Cypress Woods High School. During his three years with the program, he helped lead the ensemble to become a BOA Regional Finalist, WGI Regional Finalist, and TCGC State Silver Medalist.
Kevin returned to The Phantom Regiment in 2023 as a member of their color guard staff. He later served as Co-Caption Head of the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps during the 2024 seasonKevin currently serves as the Guard Director at Hutto High School (GO HIPPOS!), where he continues to develop and grow the program.
Kevin has also maintained a strong connection with Origins, performing with the organization during the 2022, 2023, and 2026 seasons and serving as a technician for Origins Open in 2024. In addition to his directing and instructional roles, Kevin works as a choreographer, consultant, and educator with programs throughout Texas and New Mexico.
Now calling Georgetown, TX, home, Kevin resides with his partner and their cherished dogs, Olafur, Leo, and Lady. Outside of the performing arts, Kevin enjoys traveling and exploring new destinations with his partner. Their shared love of coffee and wanderlust continually fuels their search for new adventures and experiences.
